It just occurred to me...there's no universal healthcare in this book. Just like there wasn't in Newsflesh. And like...this is the year 2027? And somehow America hasn't changed its ways at all but is just fine?
You know what would be a real and scary look at medical science in the near future? A book about its decline and eventual collapse due to a lack of money to pay for anything. That would make an actual statement.
